IMI and data protection

TheRegulation UEon IMI which came into force in early December 2012 is main reference in relation to IMI and data protection.
Information of interest to citizens whose data are treated in the system IMI
IMI provides a tool for exchange of information (including certain personal data) that allows cooperation between the public authorities EEE (European Economic Area), in matters and legislative fields served within the system, always related to the legislation on the internal market and the free movement of people and services. The relationship of areas served is available on the web Imi-españa and includes for example the recognition of professional qualifications or the provision of services for companies and individuals.
The system IMI consists of an application accessible on the Internet (managed and hosted on servers of the committee), plus a network of agents (public authorities competent in different states for each of the varied subjects that caters) involved as users of the same, and operate and communicate through him to exchange information and realize legal obligations of administrative cooperation, for the rights that the internal market provides for citizens and businesses.

This report highlights the national exceptions already under Articles 23 and 24 of the own organic law 5 / 1999, of 13 December, on the protection of Personal data (MAY). For what exceeds these forecasts, the authorities reported these other exceptions or limitaiones (with explicit mention of its legal justification) to national coordination IMI, so as to ensure its submission to the committee.
