Functions of the board

Analyze the proceedings of the departments of the General administration of the state, and government agencies attached or dependent on them, in connection with the use of the official languages of the autonomous communities in the right of use of those by citizens.
Proposing guidelines and general criteria that facilitate the coordination of the organs of the General Administration of the state in terms of use of the official languages.
Inform and subjecting the approval of the government, through the minister of public administrations, the proposals, organizational measures and action plans or objectives to fulfil, both generally by the General administration of state and government agencies linked or dependent on it, as in each specific areas of action in relation to the recognition and use of the official languages, and may, in its case, set goals partial, of progressive nature, when the objective difficulties for its full implementation and direct so warrant, according to the Council.
Propose the action lines to develop and the objectives to be achieved by the various ministries and other government agencies linked or dependent on them in connection with the use of the official languages.
Inform the proposals on official languages that are processed through any of ministerial departments.
Promote the spread in Spanish society of values of multilingualism and strengthen the introduction of measures that contribute to this end.
