The AGET is responsible for carrying out the activity of the state in a devolved on the territory, the Government Delegate of direction in the autonomous communities and their coordination with the administration of the autonomous community.

They Represent the government in the territory of the Autonomous Community. In accordance with article 154 of the spanish constitution: "A Delegate appointed by the Government would lead to the General state administration in the territory of the Autonomous Community and coordinate, where appropriate, with self-management of the community ”.

Legislation

Delegations are organically attached to the ministry of Territorial policy and Public Role, through the secretariat of state for Territorial Policy and Public service. Within the Secretariat of state, the General secretariat of Territorial coordination is the body responsible for the coordination of the activity of the General state administration in the territory and assistance to the same. Of the General secretariat of Territorial coordination depends on the directorate General of the General state administration in the territory, to which he or she attributed the coordination and assistance to delegations and Branches of government.

The following Bodies:

  • Branches of governmentin the provinces and Island Addresses.

  • Secretariat-Generaland, where appropriate, Deputy Secretary-General.

  • Functional areasto manage integrated services, industry and energy, health and Social policy, Higher Inspection of education and labour and immigration.

  • Cabinetas a body of support and immediate assistance to Delegate.

  • Local Commission for assistance, integrada por los Subdelegados del Gobierno, los Directores Insulares en su caso, el Secretario General, el Jefe de Gabinete, los Directores de las Áreas Funcionales y los responsables de los servicios no integrados que el Delegado del Gobierno determine.

There are currently 17 government delegations, for each of the autonomous communities, 2 government delegations in the cities of Ceuta and Melilla, and 44 of the Government Office in the provinces.
